Staff selection commission is going to conduct junior engineer exam for 3 streams namely electrical, mechanical and civil engineering. The prelims of the junior engineer exam will be taken in the first week of January. If you have filled the form then you should be preparing right now. The exam will be conducted in two phases. Paper I and Paper II will be held for the exam. Paper I will be of objective type while paper II is going to be a descriptive paper. The descriptive paper will consist of only technical paper. There is reasoning and general knowledge in the mains paper.
Paper I will have 3 sections namely General Intelligence, General awareness and General engineering. General engineering paper will depend on your stream. In this case it’s going to be electrical paper. The General Intelligence and general awareness will consist of 50 questions each and a total of 100 marks while technical paper will consist of 100 questions and 100 marks. It’s going to be a 200 marks paper with 2 hours limited time. 1/4th negative marks will be deducted from wrong questions. Once you clear the prelims paper then you will become eligible for the mains paper. Get one of the practice sets book from above list of books and start solving at least 2 papers daily. Solving previous year papers will also help you identify your weak areas. You can work upon those weak areas to get more marks in the technical paper of the prelims. You also need to work hard in the technical paper as the Paper II is purely descriptive paper. If you don’t have proper preparation in the engineering subjects then it will be very difficult to get more marks. As the vacancies are very less the cut off marks for these examination goes very high. You have to perform at the best level to confirm your selection.
